distance from the beautiful beach, as well as the main coastal road
of Kala Nera.
The village is well organised to cater for tourism, and visitors
will find a wonderful selection of tavernas and restaurants, bars
and cafes, as well as other local shops and businesses.
The delightful beach of Kala Nera was awarded the "Blue Flag"
by the E.U. in recognition of it's exceptionally clean waters. During
the summer months, the beach is perfect for relaxing in the sun
and bathing in the refreshing blue green waters. |

Kala Nera and the neighbouring village of Koropi are
bordered by the "Belegrino" stream that flows between
the two villages, and reaches the sea at the southern point. As
well as the main beach of Kala Nera, there are also several other
beaches just outside the village such as the beach of "Boufa",
which is the biggest beach in the Pagasitic Gulf.
Kala Nera is an ideal base from which one can venture out and visit
some of the other surrounding villages. During the winter months,
the famous ski centre of Agriolefkes is in operation, and the journey
from Kala Nera to Agriolefkes is approximately 45 minutes. The "Ainareti

The village of Ano Lehonia which is also a short distance away
from Kala Nera is the departure point of the famous steam train
of Pelion. This train takes visitors on a beautiful journey across
the mountains, passing through several villages. All visitors to
Pelion should try and take this train journey. It provides a fascinating
day out, and the journey and scenery are extremely impressive and
inspiring.
For visitors to Kala Nera during the summer months, there are several
festivals and celebrations that take place to which everyone is
invited to attend. The biggest celebration takes place on the 15th
August, which celebrates the name day of Panagia ( The Holy Mother
).
